NFL Player Desean Jackson Speaks Out After Being Cut From The Philadelphia Eagles

Desean-Jackson

Last week the Philadelphia Eagles decided to cut their franchise player 27 year old DeSean Jackson after a website posted a story about him being affiliated with gang related activities. The NJ.com posted a report linking the NFL player to a man who was charged with killing a 14 year old gang member back in 2010.

The website also linked him to another gang related murder from 2012 that happened outside of a property that was owned by members of his family. During the investigation officials found a gun permit, car title and credit card receipts that belonged to the NFL star. Although those items were found he was never considered a suspect or charged with the actual crime not to mention he was nowhere near the scene during the time of the crime.

The website also talked about DeShawn throwing up gang signs and crip walking after scoring a touch down not to mention as well as made mention of his Instagram name @jaccpot

“The two C’s in Jaccpot, cops believed, were symbolic. Crips avoid putting a “C” next to a “K” because in gangspeak, that stands for “Crip Killer.” Crosson said Jackson explained the spelling by saying the Internet domain name for Jackpot “was taken.”

Shortly after being let go DeSean released a statement statement saying the gang related claims are “reckless” and “irresponsible” he also thanked his former teammates and the city of Philadelphia.

First I would like to thank the Eagles organization, the Eagles fans and the city of Philadelphia for my time in Philly. I would also like to thank coach Andy Reid for bringing me in. Secondly, I would like to address the misleading and unfounded reports that my release has anything to do with any affiliation that has been speculated surrounding the company I keep off of the field. I would like to make it very clear that I am not and never have been part of any gang. I am not a gang member and to speculate and assume that I am involved in such activity off the field is reckless and irresponsible.

He also stated:

I work very hard on and off the field and I am a good person with good values. I am proud of the accomplishments that I have made both on and off the field. I have worked tirelessly to give back to my community and have a positive impact on those in need. It is unfortunate that I now have to defend myself and my intentions. These reports are irresponsible and just not true . I look forward to working hard for my new team. God Bless.

I’m sure a team will pick DeSean up soon I highly doubt that he’ll be unemployed for long….
