Vh1 Basketball Wives LA star Laura Govan and NBA baller Gilbert Arenas have one of the craziest & messiest on and off relationships that I have ever heard of in my life.
These two have been through everything from her allegedly sleeping with another NBA player “** cough** Shaq”, several messy child support battles, Gilbert accusing her of robbing him and filing a lawsuit to try & prevent her from appearing on Basketball Wives, as well as him skipping town leaving her & the kids behind. Talk about drama on top of drama smh!!!!!!!
In a recent interview with Essence Magazine, Laura opened up about her on again off again relationship with Gilbert revealing that they are back together again as well as the fight she had with Malaysia on the first episode of Basketball Wives & more.

On if her & her baby daddy NBA Gilbert Arenas are back together:
Yes, we are, and we plan to get married soon. When and where, I don’t know yet. I feel like we’re already married though, ten years, four kids later. People say he’s a mess, and I’m a mess. You know what, we’re each other’s messes. Everybody has breakup and make-up moments. It just so happens that ours is out in the public. You learn to grow. At this point in our lives Gilbert and I have been there, done that; the drama, the chaos. We’re older now, and we’re more mature. Now we’re better parents, and we’re taking the steps to make things better. Regardless of our past, we want our kids to see a good future.On her baby daddy Gilbert trying to stop her from being on Basketball Wives LA:
A lot of people don’t know that Gilbert is really shy. He didn’t want things about our family to be out there. But at the end of the day, things about our family are already out there so I thought let’s take control of the things we can. It was also important for me to do the show because, one, I wanted to do something on my own. I’m always in his shadow. Had it been to get a job at Target, I would have taken it, but since I was offered this opportunity, I took it.On the fight between her & Malaysia on the first episode:
I think it’s horrible. We look uneducated… it was just a really bad look. I feel bad because when you get to know her she’s a good person. On her side, it was a defense situation, and on my end, I was just going through a lot and she happened to push the wrong buttons that day. I feel like had it not been her that provoked me, it might have been someone else. As soon as the altercation ended, there was a little boy there, and I saw my son in him. I just started balling. That’s when I thought, ‘you know what, I need to go see a counselor.’ I need to start taking steps to take care of myself. For the past five years I’ve had baby after baby. People ask me, ‘do you have postpartum depression?’ I don’t even know what that is. Then the chaos with Gilbert… it’s just been a very chaotic time.

Laura is my favorite on BWLA. She seems like just a real person and I loved the way that her and Malaysia handled their conflict. Yes, the fight was a mess. It was great to see them come to their senses. Team Laura!

Laura, you have let yourself go all for fame, money and the athlete life. I pray no young lady view you as a roll model. It’s 2011, women should demand respect but if you don’t stand for respect you will lay with and for anything. 4 children out of wedlock and you are still praying for a ring. and finally…
Why does MELISSA “Imani” Showalter get such a pass on the show? She calls out other girls for the very same things she is accused (internet) of:
- she talks about Draya and her parenting yet her own backyard in regards to her 3 children isn’t clean
- she talks crap about Malaysia using her middle name, yet Imani is supposedly her middle name as well.
She comes off so judgemental yet she seems to be the basketball (almost-wife) with the most baggage, back story, and drama of any other cast members.
And to call someone worthless anonymously and then try to back down off of it when you’re called out on it, that was just laughable.

luv the show. tanya knew these ladies, except malaysia, draya and kimsha, were full of shit. what do women do to trap a successful man? have babies, hope for a ring, if all else fails, the child support will provide a comfortable living. they were extremely judgmental and hard on draya even though she’s the only one who was a celebrity before the show and made it on her own without riding a man’s coattail.
